Wodonga Diamonds FC
The $282,300 lighting upgrade project at the Wodonga Sports Facility was a collaborative effort involving Wodonga Council, Wodonga Diamonds Football Club, Murray United Football Club, and the Victorian Government. The primary aim was to replace outdated and inefficient lighting with a modern solution that meets current standards and addresses various environmental and operational needs.
Previously, Field 1 had six 25-meter poles, each equipped with three Metal Halide luminaires. Field 2, however, had no existing lighting infrastructure. The Metal Halide luminaires on Field 1 provided poor light distribution with dark spots and high tilts, resulting in non-uniform lighting across the field.
The outdated Metal Halide lights were inefficient and failed to meet current standards. The new installation needed to achieve Eh 200lux for Field 1 and Eh 100lux for Field 2, with better light distribution and minimal spill light to address environmental and residential concerns.
Outcomes and benefits
AAA-LUX, in collaboration with Positive Electrical, retained the six poles on Field 1, equipping them with three AAA-LUX luminaires per pole. For Field 2, four new 25-meter poles with five luminaires each were installed. The solution ensured minimal spill light and adhered to AS282 standards.
Field 1 now achieves an average illuminance of 308lux with excellent uniformity, and Field 2 achieves 169lux, also with superior uniformity. The lighting is highly uniform, with effective spill light containment. The AAA-LUX Control Box 2.0 allows for efficient lighting management and reduced energy costs.
